Czech "leadership" in cardiovascular diseases

Placeholder

Although mortality from cardiovascular disease has been declining in the Czech Republic for a long time, it is still the highest in comparison with Europe. Cardiovascular disease causes more than 40 % deaths (and the average age of these complications is also declining). The situation is mainly attributed to unhealthy lifestyles (excessive salt and alcohol intake, smoking, lack of exercise) and insufficient prevention, eg during a pandemic.

This raises major issues with:

  • high pressure
  • cholesterol levels,
  • obesity.

Proper and regular use of medication is also essential for the successful treatment of cardiovascular diseases, such as high blood pressure and high cholesterol.

Regular habits can help (drug dispensers or clear dosing lists, but also smart solutions - phone applications in the form of regularly recurring calls).

Regular medication is just as important as other dietary or dietary measures:

  • smoking cessation,
  • weight loss (exercise, exercise, rehabilitation),
  • dietary changes (adequate portions 3-5 times a day, plenty of fluids, significant reduction or complete withdrawal of alcohol),
  • stress avoidance…

Adherence to these precautions can significantly reduce the risk of myocardial infarction or stroke in patients with high blood pressure or high cholesterol.

In selected pharmacies, certified pharmacists provide professional advice on treatment, prevention and lifestyle improvement. This counseling is of great interest at the VFN Hospital Pharmacy.
