Possibilities of strengthening immunity in children

Autumn has come, so it's high time to strengthen children's immunity. Only a properly functioning immune system will provide the necessary protection against infections. The alpha and omega in strengthening immunity is prevention.

Preventive measures include:

  • stay and movement in the fresh air (increased resistance),
  • stay in the sun in the winter months (gain of vitamin D),
  • moisturizing the nasal mucosa (sprays containing saline or seawater - can be applied several times a day, non-addictive),
  • heating (ideal room temperature approx. 23 ° C, less for sleeping) and ventilation at home (mold prevention),
  • hygiene (hand washing),
  • enough sleep (toddlers up to 13 hours, preschoolers 10 hours),
  • a balanced diet (at least 5 servings of fresh vegetables and fruits a day - they contain high amounts of vitamins and minerals such as selenium and zinc), a sufficient supply of meat and fish, eggs, rice, liver, legumes, garlic and onions, wholemeal bread, dairy products and also natural vegetable oils (olive oil).

An alternative are multivitamin and multimineral preparations in the form of lozenges and gelatin candies intended for children from 3 years of age. In the form of a syrup, the products are suitable for children from 1 year.

The most well-known immune-boosting preparations include purple coneflower (Latin Echinacea). In pharmacies, it is available in the form of drops (we choose without alcohol) and syrup.

Other natural supplements that help increase immunity are oyster mushrooms and sea buckthorn.
