Annual protective limit of deductible additional payments
A new system of reimbursement of deductible co-payments for medicines has been in effect for more than a year. Thanks to this, patients who exceed the so-called protective limit have the deductible part of the co-payment deducted directly at the pharmacy upon dispensing.
However, with the start of a new calendar year, this annual limit is reset and until it is met again, the co-payments must be paid in full again. This means that patients may pay more for their medications in January than in December.
The amount of the protection limit is determined by the category:
The amount of deductible supplements is determined by the State Institute for Drug Control (SÚKL).
When dispensing a prescription, the pharmacist can tell the patient what portion of deductible co-payments they have paid in a given year and whether they have already reached their protective limit.
In addition, the current status can be checked at any time in the eRecept application.
If you have any questions, just ask directly at the pharmacy or contact your health insurance company.
