The irreplaceable role of pharmacists
For 5 years, pharmacists have had the opportunity to view a patient's medication record (with their consent) and thus contribute to ensuring safe and effective pharmacotherapy. They help to detect risks on a daily basis such as:
A medication record is essentially an overview of all prescriptions issued and medicinal products dispensed for a specific patient within the CÚER (the so-called Central Repository of Electronic Prescriptions).
It is the ability of pharmacists to actively work with data and electronic prescribing, as well as to communicate with other healthcare professionals, that demonstrates their key role in optimizing treatment in digital healthcare.
Thanks to the combination of expert knowledge and direct access to current medication data, the view of pharmacotherapy is comprehensive and potentially serious problems can be prevented in time.
If there is an error in the prescription, the pharmacist can verify the situation directly with the doctor and resolve it electronically. This not only saves time, but also reduces the administrative burden.
