Nasal mucosa care

Placeholder

The nasal mucosa is the gateway to the body not only for air, but also for microorganisms, dust particles, pollens and allergens.

Nasal lavage is suitable as part of daily hygiene and also as a way to eliminate the risk of infection and alleviate the symptoms of respiratory diseases (flu, cold, COVID-19).

According to the concentration, we distinguish two types of solutions:

  • isotonic (physiological) - has the same salt concentration as the cells of the human body. It can therefore be used for prevention, mild colds and allergies;
  • hypertonic - has a higher salt concentration than human cells. It brings relief from colds and nasal congestion or acute inflammation of the nasal mucosa and paranasal sinuses.

There are three basic types of rinses:

  • spray with mechanical spray,
  • pressure vessel,
  • nose rinse aid.

Only a small dose can be applied with a mechanical spray, so only the front of the nose is cleaned and the rinsing is less intense. It is recommended to use a pressure vessel or teapot for cavities and posterior rhinitis.

The aim is to remove as many allergens (pollen, dust) and pathogenic microorganisms from the nose and adjacent cavities as possible. Rinsing can also remove dirt, dead cells and excess mucus.
